I picked up Saints Row 2 for £15 today. Man that game is fun! It's everything that I expected GTA 4 to be that it wasn't. Don't get me wrong I liked GTA 4 but it felt like it had forgotten where it was from and why people bought it - wasn't the best version the outrageous 80's Vice City? GTA tried to grow up and like a 16 year old with a bum-fluff soul patch, it was hard to take serious even if you wanted to. It wants you to really get immersed but does that really mean having to keep your friends happy by playing pool with them? That's not fun, it's fucking hassle.
Saints Row 2 knows exactly what it is. It's stupid fun and it does that well. A dumb as nuts story is there just to pass you from one fun thing to another. In GTA 4 I spent my time driving my asshole cousin around - in SR2 I covered load of houses in shit and held up a liquor store, plus I get respect for power slides, burnouts and getting the car up on two wheels, excellent.
I wish I'd bought this sooner, I was obviously missing out, but at £15? It's a steal.
A top review (as always from Yahtzee) here: Saints Row 2 - Zero Punctuation (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/312-Saints-Row-2)
