Personally I think the entire RTE schedule over new years was shite. Is anyone else getting tired of SKY news repeated coverage of the 24-hours-of-the-New-years-around-the-world-crap?

Jeese Eli great minds what? I am totally sick of turning on Sky and looking at those bloody fire works repeated over and over again. They're were still showing it yesterday. And what about new year's eve itself practically every channel was dedicated to new years crap. The first sunrise (if I wanted to see the bloody sunrise I would have got out of my bed and looked at the God damned sky) talk about annoying...the first sunrise in Hawaii, the first sunrise in China the first sunrise in timbucktoo, and then "we're going back to now to look again at the highlights of that sunrise in timbuktoo" and then the last sunset here there and everybloody where and then then midnight in every place. OOOOHH it was so annoying. Who gives a shit. And RTE!! Talk about a waste of time and so amaturish (sp) Pat Kenny and that bimbo one deserved to have their heads banged together. Rubbish wasn't the word for it. Who started this topic? Micko!!! You're responsible for raising my blood temperature to ....'em some dizzying height....Micko's topic was about Hendel...so how come it's turned to this? Oh what the hell....I can't feel my toes....(yes they are toes to feel....well okay maybe not ....I am biased but if you like crooked toes and bunions and corns you would really be turned on) I bet I get loads of offers from suckers!!

Yep Messiah was pretty bad too, and as for Robbie effing Williams, got home last night to find the flatmate back in the flat watching the damn thing... *HOW* many times was that played over Christmas week, not to mention the fucking MTV awards, The ChildLine Awards, the SMASH HITS awards, god-damn WESTLIFE live from the city-centre somewhere, Boy-effing-zone on bloody everything, some crap pantomime with Sam Janus (who should've known better), The 'Have I got News for you' chrimbo special, the 'They think it's all over' chrimbo special, the 'Never mind the buzzcocks' chrimbo special, The 'French and Saunders' chrimbo special, Vicar of Dibley 'New' episodes played about 3 times, Gimme gimme gimme 'new' episode played another 3 times. Then you've got the 'Christmas' movie extravaganza...
Sound of music, Dr. Zhivago (there's a whole day there) Out of Africa, Laurence of Arabia (that's another day gone) Charlie and the chocolate factory (okay so I like this one)
Die Hard (the first one, 5 times this season)
Lethal Weapon (the first one)
And where were all the blockbuster 'premieres'?
Spice-effing world, ehh, Michael Collins (real christmasy that!) and that was it! Indiana Jones was noticeable by it's absence as was any of the Bond movies.
And what is with RTE showing a movie and then UTV or BBC showing it the next night? Are there only so many copies to go round and they all have to share?

Now hang on Eli! for the most part, i agree with you, but oi! No! I thought the Never mind the buzzcocks Chrimbo special was hilarious. Especially Bill Bailey and Rick Wyman. And there was a Bond film on lst week. The one with the Lotus submarine (we all wanted one when we were kids, didn't we lads?).
But right enough, everyone has been saying what a pile of crap the TV was over Christmas. Bet Xtra Vision made a packet.

I didn't say that I read over Christmas. I can't read with a hangover. Just offering an alternate solution to the everything on TV sucks problem.

I enjoyed seeing the Gimme Gimme Gimme more than once, as the first time I was still drunk and didn't catch it all. "What's the magic word?" ha!
And Dr. Zhivago was lovely for a day-after-the-night-before-lie-down. Then I took a shower and went out to start again...I think Eli was
sick and just saw more of the world from the sofa than some over the holidays.

El and Dandruff, you are absolutely right, apart from Kathy Burke. She is brilliant. And there was far too many bloody repeats and rubbish. Robbie Williams at Slane again? I reach for my revolver. Fat Kenny? Pass me the flamethrower. I ended up reading two Inspector Morse books that they never turned into Tv versions. And that new Phantom Menace game on the Playstation. I can't get past level one and always end up getting chopped to pieces by the giant fan.

Ye's could do like they have done in Derry and launch ye're own TV channel. Derry's Channel 9 (no relation to Channel 9 on The Fast Show) is being launched this year, though only people in Derry and surrounding areas (like my home town) will be able to receive it. So launch ye're own channel and stick whatever ye want on it.
