I'm (finally) getting broadband this week and want to watch some TTV... Can anyone tell me in plain English what I need to get & where to get it...

Is there any software that can record streaming radio ?

Also, Is there a piece of hardware I can get to plug into my PC to stream online radio to my stereo (live a video sender but for radio) or stereos in the house ?

Final question (for now), Is a 1MB connection (with Eircom) enough for a start ? Do they rigorously police the download cap ?

Eircom do. I have to go with Eircom as no-one else will give it to me (until eircom allow smart into my exchange). Eircom are 80% positive I can have it.... Only took five years...

Google is your friend....

Audio to stereo (http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/howto-pc-audio.html)

Recording streaming audio (http://radio.about.com/od/recordstreamingaudio/)

If, by TTV you mean terrestrial TV, you need a TV card for your PC and plug the aerial cable into it.

RE: Radio - I understand there are yokes out there on the interweb that you can plug into the headphone/line out of any device (usually a 3.5mm stereo jack) and transmit an FM signal which, of course, can be picked up on any radio inside it's range.

Now, in Ireland, the use of these things is considered bold. So you shouldn't EVER do it by googling or looking on eBay (http://search.ebay.ie/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=FM+transmitter&sacat=293%26catref%3DC6&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=Postcode&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&so=Show+Items&salic=99&fhlc=1)...

Griffin, did you make up the TTV acronym yourself?

Torrents don't stream, they download as whole files.

Don, How do you find the rss link for a series that you want to add yourself
Say top gear, the one in their list won't give me anything past series 5.

Most of the torrent sites have an RSS feed for each series - just add in that link.

90% sure I did, but there's that niggly 10% that I could have heard someone else say it...

Streaming radio I meant.
