For those of you not familiar with "the Curse of the Bambino" and the horrific history of this "sports" team - I ,long time Yankee fan, provide you with the following helpful link ;-)

http://www.soxsuck.com/loss1900.html

"September 11, 1918: Boston beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 in game six of the 1918 World Series. It is the LAST time that the Red Sox won a World Series Championship."

would there be much demand for a sports forum for american/canadian sports ie

usa - football baseball
canada - hockey

Well, I only care when my teams are in the playoffs. So I wouldn't be a regular poster.

I'm still a girly-chick you know.

But that doesn't mean there wouldn't be demand.

The truth hurts, Murph - and so does being a Sux fan...

Hey, Moody, not to be a whiny pain, but I'm gonna be a whiny pain. I don't like the Yankees, but I do respect their talent and my best not to insult them or their fans. Maybe you're just ribbing good-naturedly, but could you at least stop calling them the Red Sux?

Yeah, I'd probably read those and post occasionally.

if you want. however, i consider this, quite correctly, as an irish message board focusing on things irish. truth be told there have been maybe 3 baseball threads in the whole of this season, and 2 of those have come up because it so happens that a bunch of the american posters live in cities where the teams are in playoff contention. Everyone likes hockey though. :D any hoo, i wouldn't mind it, but don't go to any extra trouble. :guh:

Julia,

I've been to Fenway Park in Boston and heard lots worse from the Boston fans - as I'm sure the Boston fans have heard from Yankee fans...

This is just not a game - it's war... your Pedro Martinez once said he wanted to dig up the Bambino and "buzz" him (i.e. knock him down)

Would "Red Suds" be less offending?

Dear Ick - the Yankees will give the Beanytown Brats a beating - besides, Pedro can't start until Saturday...

Bucky Dent, 1918, ball thru Buckner's legs - and more memories to come in these coming days...

Sorry about that the other night. I wasn't trying to be a bitch (much) you just hit a nerve. All's fair in love and baseball.

I'd use this area for my basketball updates, if the season ever starts.

Go Kings!

Julia,

The Beany Boys winning the first game only gives your team and fans that much more hope - which will make the inevitable collapse even sweeter for this Yankee fan ;-)

Hey Julia - what happened to your boys last night?

Series tied up 1-1...

Tomorrow - Rocket Clemons vs Pedro at Fenway... should be a good one...
