For about 4 days which would you recommend? South of France or Southern Spain?

I don't know any French though...problemo?
Kisseen

Not really - though it would be worth to learn at least just one phrase, just to show your goodwill! That normally makes them more friendly, even if you say it like shit - they'll appreciate the effort ...

Could someone tell me how to say "Do you like my boots" in French?

This is a hard choice.
(a) Spain. Post-Franco, not so great food but interesting. Prawny stuff with rice. The Moorish influences. Catalonia. Homage to it. Flamenco. That lad who did "Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown". Lovely weather.
(b) South of France. Classy. Yummy Food. Snobby Waiters. Stylish people. Voulez-vous (not the "tu" form?). Vol au vents. French kissing. Les lettres francaise. Soup with onions. Les Baguettes (a famous music hall act, who did the warm up for the Little Sparrow herself, Vanessa Paradis). Les Matelots (he was a distinguished cook). Tres bien (a very attractive chanteuse)
OK I'd go to both. Two days in each

I'd go for Southern Spain, Barcelona especially.
Barca is one of the world's coolest cities. The Architecture is amazing the Catalan food is scrumptious, the people are very laid back, almost like the Irish, the weather is ideal and did I mention the architecture?

Be careful if you go to Barca. I've heard the oul Ace of spades is rampant.

Aimez-vous mes "Vien-et-Baise-Moi" Bottes?

Barcelona is in northern Spain.
You should go to Spain. I spent a year there and for a 4 day trip it is much better value. Going to southern France as a non French - speaker is a bad idea as they're all really snobby about that there. Plus southern Spain is cheaper (southern France is a massive rip-off). Spain is much more picturesque too - see Seville and Granada especially.
Kisseen
16th October 2000, 11:08 PM
Oh yes, both Granada and Seville is well worth a visit. Really depends on what you want to do in those 4 days?!?! Sightseeing or local-people-seeing, or just for the food and wine?!?!?!?

Umm, Kinda but not really.
Barcelona is in Eastern Spain, on the Mediterranean Coast, about 100 miles from the French border.
A possibility for your trip Murph would be to get a train from S. France to Barca - It's not all that far. I imagine a train from Marsailles to Barcelona would take 5/6 hours (I could be completely wrong on that)

Southern France can be a massive rip-off, having said that though, we went to Nice expecting to be fleeced, and got great value for money. We spoke French though, which probly makes a huge difference.
My advice would be Spain though. Lovely friendly laid back people. Granada is wonderful. We ended up there by accident one November, and I loved it so much I went back for my hols last year, just to get a proper look at the Alhambra Palace. Another interesting thing to see is the gypsies, hippies and druggies living in caves in the hills

Allright, it's in the North East, but that's my final offer!
